Mira Chong is a TO-DO Certified Decoupage teacher and artist who obtained her certification from TO-DO Creative Art School, Italy in 2016.

As a young girl, Mira has always loved everything beautiful, but she has not been into art fully when her children were still very young. “Now that they are older, I tried and started to do some decorative painting myself”, she says. “It was later that I was introduced to decoupage, and I found I like it. I started with simple items, by doing projects for my own home.” Her friends who visited her were very impressed with her works and she started teaching them as a hobby and for leisure.

Since graduating from TO-DO Creative Art School, Italy, Mira has given a “Midas” touch to nearly everything in her home. Empty tin cans are turned into pen holders, paper boxes were up-cycled into nice tissue holders and ceramic tiles have become coaster for dining table. Old furniture are up-cycled and given a new lease of life, by decoupage.

Her works have been featured in leading prints such as Malaysian Business magazines, New Straits Times and Decoupage Artist Worldwide. Mira has been actively teaching and promoting Decoupage Art at her Studio, Mirabelle Decoupage Art & Craft located at Medan Putra Business Centre. Her students consists of children as young as 6 years old to teenagers and adults. Besides teaching students as hobbyists, Mira train students who aspire to be Decoupage teachers through her TO-DO International Decoupage Teacher’s Course and TO-DO Creative Ideas Bambini Teacher’s Decoupage Programme.

She has been actively involved in charity programme to raise funds for organisation such as Helping Hand Penan, Buddhist Society and Orphange and was invited to conduct Decoupage workshops at various corporate event such as MIDF, Telekom Malaysia, YMCA, Teledirect, Desa Parkcity, Bangsar South …etc.

As a Certified Decoupage Teacher in teaching decoupage, Mira aspires to train more teachers and share the art to more people. “This is my passion. I have always loved art from young and decoupage has given me a lot of satisfaction”, she said.

In 2016, she went to TO-DO Creative Art School in Brescia, Italy to learn from the Italian master crafters. Having completed the Teacher’s Training Course in Decoupage, Colour Theory, Decoration and Up-cycling, Mira was conferred CERTIFIED DECOUPAGE TEACHER by TO-DO Creative Ideas. Mira is the first and ONLY Malaysian to be certified by TO-DO Creative Ideas. Upon returning home , Mira incorporate many of the TO-DO techniques in her works and teaching.

On the same trip to Italy, she met up with Ms. Monica Allegro, the founder and principal of Sospeso Trasparente, Italy . A cordial meet up and Ms. Monica was invited to Malaysia to share the Art . In April 2017, Sospeso Trasparente Workshop was conducted by Ms. Monica at Mirabelle Studio for Mira and a group of teachers. Mirabelle Decoupage was appointed authorised distributor for Sospeso Trasparente material and teaching.

In December 2017, Mira travelled to Athens, Greece and acquired the skill of Decofoam Decoupage with Ms. Elena Kalafati, the founder of Decofoam Decoupage and Ms. Foteini of Paco Art Centre. Thereafter, Mira introduced Decofoam Decoupage in Malaysia.

Impressed with the elegant, clean and neat style of Japanese Decoupage Art, Mira travelled to Tokyo, Japan to learn and completed the Japanese Decoupage Art. She became a Certificate Decoupage Teacher in Japanese Decoupage, awarded by Japan Art Paper Association in March 2019.

To share, teach and spread the beautiful art of decoupage to as many people, whether local of overseas regardless of age.
